White After Labor Day

So the old tale says that we are not supposed to wear white after Labor Day until Memorial Day. Well today I will be the bearer of good news and tell you this is totally a myth. Basically the rule was put in place during the late 1800’s to show the difference in social classes. Ridiculous right? While the rule doesn’t still stand in the fashion industry, lets talk about how to wear white as we head into cooler months.

I am absolutely a gal who loves to wear whites all year around, however as we move into fall and winter I try and transition my whites into creams to give it a more neutral vibe that isn’t so crisp. I also put my white jeans away until spring, super sad but just a personal preference.

I went ahead and chose six of my favorite cream/white items that are perfect as we transition into fall, and this time I didn’t forget about the guys!

1.Men’s Henley Tee: Simple tees are a great way to add a layer into your outfit this fall and winter. Layer this men’s henley tee under jackets, vests, or flannels. This is also a great transition piece because it can be worn with shorts now in warmer temps and casually with jeans.

2.Men’s Vans Sneakers: I love the idea of doing a cream sneaker instead of a bright white sneaker for fall. These also have some texture to them which I love for the cooler months. Not only can they be worn all year around, but they are also extremely versatile.

3.Men’s Pocket Square: This is a great example how you can turn a basic white pocket square into a white fall pocket square. The fall colors that line the outer edges of the square are a fun and festive detail.

4. Women’s Boyfriend Blazer: We all know I LOVE blazers and this one just may be sitting in my shopping cart as we speak. I love the cream color of this blazer and the boyfriend fit, which is great for us girls with longer torsos! Again dress this up or down!

5.Women’s Mule Heel: I love a good heel, but we already knew that. These Rag & Bone mule heels are to die for. I love that they again aren’t a crisp white but also that they have a wooden heel. The wooden heel and closed toe really helps transition the shoe into fall.

6.Women’s Trouser: Remember how I said pack my white denim away? Well instead I love a good cream trouser. They are great for an elevated look but also look adorable paired with a sweater or graphic tee layered under a leather jacket.

There are so many amazing cream/white pieces so the list could go on! Wishing everyone a great start to a new month, happy September!
